Ingredients

  • 1 package of phyllo dough
  • 2 cups of chopped nuts (walnuts, pistachios)
  • 1 cup of unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon of cinnamon
  • 1 cup of sugar
  • 1 cup of water
  • 1/2 cup of honey
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Layer half of the phyllo dough in a greased baking dish, brushing each layer with butter.
  3. Mix chopped nuts and cinnamon in a bowl.
  4. Spread the nut mixture over the phyllo layers.
  5. Add the remaining phyllo dough, buttering each layer.
  6. Cut into diamond shapes before baking.
  7. Bake for 45 minutes or until golden brown.
  8. In a saucepan, combine sugar, water, honey, and vanilla. Bring to a boil, then simmer for 10 minutes.
  9. Pour the syrup over the baklava once it comes out of the oven.
  10. Let it cool before serving.
