Description
Chocolate chip cookie bars are a delightful twist on the classic cookie, offering a chewy texture and rich flavor in a convenient bar format.
Ingredients
- All-purpose flour: 2 cups (240 g)
- Brown sugar: 1 cup (packed, 220 g)
- Granulated sugar: 1/2 cup (100 g)
- Butter: 1 cup (unsalted, 226 g, melted)
- Eggs: 2 large
- Vanilla extract: 2 teaspoons (10 ml)
- Baking soda: 1 teaspoon (5 g)
- Salt: 1/2 teaspoon (3 g)
- Chocolate chips: 2 cups (340 g, semi-sweet or milk chocolate)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Prepare a 9×13 inch (23×33 cm) baking pan by greasing it or lining it with parchment paper.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet mixture, stirring gently until just combined.
- Fold in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
- Pour the cookie dough into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly. Bake for 25-30 minutes until the edges are golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
- Let the bars cool for 10-15 minutes in the pan, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before cutting into squares.
Notes
- Measure flour correctly to avoid dry cookie bars.
- Avoid overmixing the dough to keep bars soft and chewy.
- Check oven temperature to ensure even baking.
- Allow bars to cool before cutting to prevent crumbling.
