Description

A traditional Chinese New Year cake shaped like a rooster, symbolizing good fortune and prosperity.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 500g glutinous rice flour
  • 300ml water
  • 200g sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Red food coloring
  • Yellow food coloring
  • Black sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Mix glutinous rice flour and sugar in a bowl.
  2. Add water and vanilla extract, and stir until smooth.
  3. Divide the mixture into three bowls.
  4. Color one bowl red, one yellow, and leave one plain.
  5. Grease a rooster-shaped mold.
  6. Layer the colored mixtures into the mold, starting with red, then yellow, and finally plain.
  7. Steam the cake for 45 minutes.
  8. Let cool before removing from the mold.
  9. Decorate with black sesame seeds for eyes.
