Ingredients

- 500g all-purpose flour
- 250g golden syrup
- 60g lard
- 1/2 tsp alkaline water
- 200g lotus seed paste
- 100g salted egg yolks
- sesame seeds for topping
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
- Mix flour, golden syrup, lard, and alkaline water to form a dough.
- Let the dough rest for 30 minutes.
- Divide the lotus seed paste into balls and place a salted egg yolk in each.
- Wrap the paste around the yolks to form balls.
- Divide the dough into equal portions and flatten each piece.
- Wrap the dough around each filling ball.
- Shape the moon cakes and place them on a baking tray.
- Brush the tops with egg wash and sprinkle sesame seeds.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
Notes
- Allow moon cakes to sit for a day to enhance flavor.
- Store in an airtight container.
- Serve with tea for best experience.
