Description

Ingredients

  • 500g all-purpose flour
  • 250g golden syrup
  • 60g lard
  • 1/2 tsp alkaline water
  • 200g lotus seed paste
  • 100g salted egg yolks
  • sesame seeds for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. Mix flour, golden syrup, lard, and alkaline water to form a dough.
  3. Let the dough rest for 30 minutes.
  4. Divide the lotus seed paste into balls and place a salted egg yolk in each.
  5. Wrap the paste around the yolks to form balls.
  6. Divide the dough into equal portions and flatten each piece.
  7. Wrap the dough around each filling ball.
  8. Shape the moon cakes and place them on a baking tray.
  9. Brush the tops with egg wash and sprinkle sesame seeds.
  10. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.

  • Allow moon cakes to sit for a day to enhance flavor.
  • Store in an airtight container.
