Ingredients

- 1 whole chicken (3–4 lbs)
- 4 cups chicken broth
- 1 cup carrots, chopped
- 1 cup celery, chopped
- 1 cup onion, chopped
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup butter, melted
- 1 cup milk
Instructions
- In a large pot, boil the chicken in broth until cooked through.
- Remove the chicken and let it cool, then shred the meat.
- Add carrots, celery, and onion to the broth. Simmer until tender.
- In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Add melted butter and milk to the flour mixture. Stir until just combined.
- Drop spoonfuls of the dough into the simmering broth.
- Cover and cook for 15-20 minutes until dumplings are fluffy.
- Add shredded chicken back to the pot and stir to combine.
Notes
- You can use leftover chicken for a quicker meal.
- Adjust the thickness of the broth by adding more or less liquid.
