- Granulated sugar: 1/4 cup (plus 2 tablespoons for the filling)
- Active dry yeast: 2 1/4 teaspoons (1 packet)
- Milk: 1 cup (warm, about 110°F or 43°C)
- Unsalted butter: 1/2 cup (melted, plus extra for greasing)
- Eggs: 2 large
- Cherry filling: 1 cup (store-bought or homemade)
- Powdered sugar: 1 cup (for dusting)
- Vanilla extract: 1 teaspoon
Instructions
- Prepare the dough by combining warm milk with 2 tablespoons of sugar and sprinkling yeast over it. Let it sit until frothy.
- In a large bowl, mix flour and remaining sugar, then add melted butter, eggs, and the yeast mixture. Combine to form a dough.
- For the cherry filling, cook pitted cherries with sugar until thickened, then cool.
- Roll out the dough into a rectangle, spread the cherry filling, and roll it up tightly. Slice into 12 pieces.
- Place rolls in a greased baking dish, let rise for 30-45 minutes, then bake at 350°F (175°C) for 25-30 minutes.
- Prepare icing by mixing powdered sugar, vanilla, and milk to desired consistency. Drizzle over warm rolls.
Notes
