Description

Cheesy scalloped potatoes are a delicious side dish made with layers of thinly sliced potatoes, creamy cheese sauce, and baked until golden.


Ingredients

  • 4 large potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup milk
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Grease a baking dish with butter.
  3. In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Stir in flour and cook for 1 minute.
  4. Add heavy cream and milk, whisking until smooth.
  5. Stir in garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  6. Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the baking dish.
  7. Pour half of the cheese sauce over the potatoes.
  8. Repeat with the remaining potatoes and cheese sauce.
  9. Top with the remaining cheddar cheese.
  10. Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  11. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until bubbly and golden.
