Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.

  4. In another bowl, cream butter and sugar until light.
  5. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each.
  6. Mix in pumpkin puree and vanilla.
  7. Alternate adding the flour mixture and buttermilk to the butter mixture.
  8. Pour the batter into prepared pans.
  9. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  10. Let cool before frosting.
