- 1 pre-made pie crust
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups milk
- 3 egg yolks, beaten
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Whipped cream for topping
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a saucepan, combine brown sugar, cornstarch, and salt.
- Gradually whisk in milk and cook over medium heat until thickened.
- Remove from heat and stir a small amount into the beaten egg yolks.
- Return the mixture to the pan and cook for 2 more minutes.
- Stir in butter and vanilla extract.
- Pour filling into the pie crust and cool.
- Chill in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours.
- Top with whipped cream before serving.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, use whole milk.
- Chill the pie overnight for best results.
