Description
A classic dessert made with layers of bread and a creamy custard.
Ingredients
Scale
- 6 slices of stale bread
- 4 tablespoons of butter
- 2 cups of milk
- 1 cup of cream
- 4 eggs
- 3/4 cup of sugar
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Spread butter on both sides of bread slices.
- Cut bread into triangles and layer in a baking dish.
- In a bowl, whisk together milk, cream, eggs, sugar, vanilla, and cinnamon.
- Pour the custard over the bread layers.
- Let it soak for 30 minutes.
- Bake for 40-45 minutes until set and golden.
- Serve warm.
Notes
- Use leftover bread for best results.
- Add raisins or chocolate chips for extra flavor.
- Serve with cream or ice cream.
