Description

Bomboloni are Italian donuts filled with custard or jam, soft and fluffy.


Ingredients

  • 100g sugar
  • 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 250ml milk, warm
  • 2 large eggs
  • 80g unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • Oil for frying
  • Powdered sugar for dusting
  • Filling of your choice (custard or jam)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine warm milk and yeast. Let it sit until frothy.
  2. In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, and salt.
  3. Add yeast mixture, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla. Knead until smooth.
  4. Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour.
  5. Roll out the dough to 1-inch thickness. Cut into circles.
  6. Let the circles rise for another 30 minutes.
  7. Heat oil in a deep pan. Fry the donuts until golden brown.
  8. Cool slightly and fill with custard or jam.
  9. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
