Description
A rich and decadent dessert layered with chocolate cake, whipped cream, and cherries.
Ingredients
- Chocolate cake – 1 pound
- Whipped cream – 2 cups
- Cherry pie filling – 1 can
- Dark chocolate shavings – 1/2 cup
Instructions
- Prepare the chocolate cake according to package instructions and let it cool.
- Cut the chocolate cake into small cubes.
- In a trifle dish, layer half of the cake cubes at the bottom.
- Add half of the cherry pie filling over the cake cubes.
- Spread half of the whipped cream on top of the cherries.
- Repeat the layers with the remaining cake, cherries, and whipped cream.
- Top with dark chocolate shavings.
- Chill for at least 2 hours before serving.
Notes
- Use fresh cherries for a more natural flavor.
- Feel free to use store-bought cake mix for convenience.
- For a boozy version, add a splash of cherry liqueur between the layers.
