  • 1 jar (24 oz) morello cherries
  • 2 cups heavy whipping cream
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • Chocolate shavings for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  3. In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  4. Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla. Mix until smooth.
  5. Stir in boiling water until well combined.
  6. Pour batter into the prepared pans.
  7. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. Let cakes cool for 10 minutes, then remove from pans.
  9. Whip the cream with powdered sugar until stiff peaks form.
  10. Layer one cake with cherries and whipped cream.
  11. Top with the second cake and frost the top and sides with whipped cream.
  12. Garnish with chocolate shavings and additional cherries.
