This is the best homemade toffee recipe that is easy to follow and delicious.

- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup water
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)
Instructions
- In a saucepan, combine butter, sugar, water, and salt.
- Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until the mixture reaches a boil.
- Continue cooking without stirring until the mixture turns a deep amber color, about 10 minutes.
- Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
- Pour the mixture onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Let it cool for a few minutes, then sprinkle chocolate chips on top.
- Spread the melted chocolate evenly and add chopped nuts if desired.
- Allow to cool completely before breaking into pieces.
