- 4 large sweet potatoes, peeled and sliced
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup water
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large pot, combine sweet potatoes, brown sugar, butter, water, cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla.
- Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat.
- Once boiling, reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes.
- Transfer the mixture to a baking dish.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes, basting occasionally.
- Remove from oven and let cool slightly before serving.
