Description
Beef Wellington is a classic dish featuring tender beef coated with mushroom duxelles and wrapped in puff pastry.
Ingredients

- 1.5 lbs beef tenderloin
- 8 oz mushrooms, finely chopped
- 4 oz pâté
- 1 sheet puff pastry
- 1 egg, beaten
- 2 tbsp Dijon mustard
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- Salt to taste
- Pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Season beef with salt and pepper.
- Heat olive oil in a pan and sear the beef on all sides.
- Remove beef and let it cool.
- In the same pan, add mushrooms and cook until moisture evaporates.
- Spread Dijon mustard over beef.
- Spread pâté over mushrooms and then wrap mushrooms around the beef.
- Roll out puff pastry and wrap it around the beef mixture.
- Seal edges and brush with beaten egg.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
Notes
- Let the beef rest before slicing.
- Serve with a red wine sauce.
- Use fresh herbs for added flavor.
