Description
Beef Mince Macaroni Pie is a delightful dish that combines the comforting flavors of macaroni and cheese with savory ground beef, baked to perfection with a crispy top layer.
Ingredients
- Macaroni pasta: 250 grams (about 2 cups)
- Ground beef: 500 grams (about 1 lb)
- Onion: 1 medium, finely chopped
- Garlic: 2 cloves, minced
- Tomato sauce: 400 grams (about 1 ½ cups)
- Cheddar cheese: 200 grams, shredded (about 2 cups)
- Egg: 1 large
- Breadcrumbs: 100 grams (about 1 cup)
- Salt and pepper: to taste
- Olive oil: 1 tablespoon
Instructions
- Cook the macaroni in salted boiling water until al dente, about 8-10 minutes. Drain and set aside.
- In a skillet, heat olive oil and sauté onion and garlic until translucent. Add ground beef, season with salt and pepper, and cook until browned.
- Stir in tomato sauce and simmer for 5 minutes. Remove from heat and mix in cooked macaroni and half of the cheddar cheese.
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Beat the egg and combine it with the macaroni and beef mixture. Grease a baking dish and pour in the mixture, topping with remaining cheese and breadcrumbs.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes until the top is golden brown and cheese is bubbling. Let cool before serving.
Notes
- Overcooking the macaroni can make it mushy.
- Ensure the beef is browned properly for depth of flavor.
- Allow the mixture to cool slightly before adding the egg.
- Use the recommended amount of sauce to avoid sogginess.
- Always grease the baking dish to prevent sticking.
