Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat.
  2. Add beef and brown on all sides.
  3. Remove beef and set aside.
  4. Add onion, carrots, and celery to the pot; sauté until softened.
  5. Stir in garlic and cook for 1 minute.
  6. Add barley, beef broth, bay leaf, and browned beef to the pot.
