Description

Beef and Zucchini Gratin is a delightful dish that combines ground beef and fresh zucchini, layered with cheese and breadcrumbs, baked until golden and bubbly.


Ingredients

  • Ground beef: 500 grams (about 1 lb)
  • Zucchini: 2 medium-sized, sliced
  • Onion: 1 medium, finely chopped
  • Garlic: 2 cloves, minced
  • Cheese: 200 grams, grated (such as mozzarella or cheddar)
  • Breadcrumbs: 100 grams
  • Olive oil: 2 tablespoons
  • Salt: to taste
  • Pepper: to taste
  • Mixed herbs: 1 teaspoon (such as thyme, oregano, or basil)

Instructions

  1. Prepare all ingredients by washing, slicing, chopping, and grating as needed.
  2. Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a skillet, sauté onion and garlic until translucent, then add ground beef and cook until browned.
  3. In the same skillet, add the remaining olive oil and sauté sliced zucchini for about 3-4 minutes.
  4. Layer half of the sautéed zucchini in a baking dish, followed by half of the beef mixture, and half of the cheese. Repeat the layers.
  5. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and bake the gratin for 25-30 minutes until golden brown and bubbly.
