Beef and Zucchini Gratin is a delightful dish that combines ground beef and fresh zucchini, layered with cheese and breadcrumbs, baked until golden and bubbly.
Ingredients
- Ground beef: 500 grams (about 1 lb)
- Zucchini: 2 medium-sized, sliced
- Onion: 1 medium, finely chopped
- Garlic: 2 cloves, minced
- Cheese: 200 grams, grated (such as mozzarella or cheddar)
- Breadcrumbs: 100 grams
- Olive oil: 2 tablespoons
- Salt: to taste
- Pepper: to taste
- Mixed herbs: 1 teaspoon (such as thyme, oregano, or basil)
Instructions
- Prepare all ingredients by washing, slicing, chopping, and grating as needed.
- Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a skillet, sauté onion and garlic until translucent, then add ground beef and cook until browned.
- In the same skillet, add the remaining olive oil and sauté sliced zucchini for about 3-4 minutes.
- Layer half of the sautéed zucchini in a baking dish, followed by half of the beef mixture, and half of the cheese. Repeat the layers.
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and bake the gratin for 25-30 minutes until golden brown and bubbly.
