Ingredients

  • Beef Sirloin: 500 grams, thinly sliced against the grain.
  • Broccoli Florets: 300 grams.
  • Soy Sauce: 4 tablespoons.
  • Garlic: 3 cloves, minced.
  • Ginger: 1 tablespoon, minced or grated.
  • Sesame Oil: 2 tablespoons.
  • Cornstarch: 2 tablespoons.
  • Green Onions: 2, chopped.
  • Rice: 2 cups, for serving.
  • Salt and Pepper: to taste.
  • Water: 1/4 cup, for steaming the broccoli.

Instructions

  1. Rinse 2 cups of rice under cold water, then add to a pot with 4 cups of water and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 15-20 minutes.
  2. In a bowl, combine the sliced beef with 2 tablespoons of soy sauce and 1 tablespoon of cornstarch. Marinate for 15 minutes.
  3. Bring 1/4 cup of water to a boil in a pot, add broccoli florets, cover, and steam for 2-3 minutes.
  4. Heat 1 tablespoon of sesame oil in a skillet over medium-high heat, add marinated beef, and cook for 2-3 minutes until browned.
  5. Add the remaining tablespoon of sesame oil, minced garlic, and ginger to the skillet and sauté for 30 seconds.
  6. Return the cooked beef and blanched broccoli to the skillet, add 2 tablespoons of soy sauce, and cook for an additional 2 minutes.
  7. Mix the remaining tablespoon of cornstarch with a splash of water to create a slurry, pour into the skillet, and cook for another minute until the sauce thickens.
  8. Remove from heat, garnish with chopped green onions, and serve over the prepared rice.
