Description
A rich and creamy Bavarian cream custard dessert.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1 cup milk
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 3 large egg yolks
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon gelatin
- 3 tablespoons cold water
Instructions
- In a saucepan, heat the cream and milk over medium heat until hot but not boiling.
- In a bowl, whisk together the egg yolks and sugar until pale.
- Slowly add the hot cream mixture to the egg yolks while whisking constantly.
- Return the mixture to the saucepan and cook over low heat until it thickens.
- Dissolve the gelatin in cold water and stir into the warm custard.
- Stir in the vanilla extract.
- Pour the custard into serving dishes and refrigerate until set.
Notes
- Serve with fresh berries.
- Can be made a day in advance.
- Ensure the gelatin is fully dissolved for a smooth texture.
