Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Sift the cake flour and half of the sugar together.
  3. In a large bowl, beat the egg whites until foamy.
  4. Add cream of tartar and continue beating until soft peaks form.
  5. Gradually add the remaining sugar, beating until stiff peaks form.
  6. Fold in the flour mixture gently.
  7. Add vanilla extract and salt, folding until just combined.
  8. Pour the batter into an ungreased tube pan.
  9. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown.
  10. Invert the pan to cool completely before removing the cake.
